How to become Top Dog - A Dog Owner's Guide to Sanity - Peeing on the carpet, knocking you down, or stealing dinner off the counter are all signs that your dog doesn't respect your rules. In other words, you are not the Alpha Dog. If you ever want to have a peaceful and happy relationship with your dog, you need to learn how to become top dog. It's not just a silly phrase. Dogs have a ranking system. In simple reality, the only two ranks you need to know of are top dog , and not top dog.... The Ruler, and the Rule Follower.
Dogs And Their Allergies - A former co-worker has a dog that had begun itching and scratching incessantly. So much so, he had worn away a lot of his fur. She took him to the vet suspecting fleas; as it turned out, he was allergic to wheat which is in many dog treats and foods. When we started our dog treat business, we gave out some samples to dog owners we know and she had to turn them away so her beloved Snoopy wouldn’t get sick. Many dogs have problems with wheat, onions and garlic.
Dog Grooming and Dog Care - Dog grooming is relatively simple for most dogs. I have a greyhound and spend about 5 minutes per day on dog grooming. For dogs that have short hair, they need to be brushed, maybe once per week. For dogs with long hair, the grooming is more time consuming. This is an important consideration when selecting a breed. Beyond regularly brushing your dog's coat and giving him or her periodic baths, you may want to consider a few other things.
Treat Fleas Naturally and Avoid Vaccinations, for a Truly Healthy Dog - An essential to your dog’s health is his/her regular annual checkup with the vet. The vaccinations* which are given to your dog each year supposedly ensure your dog’s immunity to some common infectious diseases. The annual checkup is also an excellent opportunity for a thorough physical examination to be carried out, and a time to discuss any minor problems or issues which you feel may be affecting your dog’s health or wellbeing.
Dog Raised Feeders - The Only Way to Go! - One of my favorite dog supplies I have is my dog raised feeders, one for each dog. I don’t necessarily SEE all the benefits – not tangibly anyway – but I KNOW how wonderful they are for my dog’s health. Not to mention avoiding spilled food and water! I also picked up a floor mat for dog dishes, and that helps too. I bought a raised feeder with an enclosed bottom to also store their food, which I find saves me SO much time when it comes to feeding them.
